Porcupine Tree is a good band but not a best band of all time. The best band of all time is from Pink Floyd, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Guns N roses and Metallica.

Guns N Roses probably rank among the worst ever. Metallica are outright sell outs with only 4 and a half good albums and 20 works of unlistenable vomit. The Rolling Stones weren't bad but don't live up to the hype, and it says a lot when your band's best song is another band's worst song. The Beatles started off as some form of horrible proto-pop and only got good late career though that late career material is arguably the most influential music ever so I'll give you The Beatles. Pink Floyd and The Who are both awesome.

So you have a list that is ripped right out of generic-guitbox-magezine with only 3 notably great bands. You fail at the interweb, please quit.

Normally I would bait you by ranting about how horrible Napalm Death is, but I'll just agree to disagree.

Any band who joins a record label (major or indie, mattets not) is a sell out. If you're selling your art as product. You're selling out, thats a fact. Every band you like has sold out a long time ago.

This is a guy who makes threads like "Some generic prog band no one cares about is the greatest band ever and I'm gonna scold anyone who disagrees" and "And this is the worst band ever and I refuse to acknowledge they have talent even though they do and I'm gonna scold anyone who disagrees and even go as far as to tell them they are a rotten human being for liking them", so to expect you to have respect for anyones opinion is out of the question.

Not really. You don't sell out until you make music for something other than yourself and music.

The Beatles were great when they started. They weren't as good as they were when they released Abby Road or Sgt. Peppers, but they were still good.

These sentences (?) are punctuated so horribly that I'm not even sure if its English. There are plenty of bands who are signed to labels who do it for the music and got lucky. I wouldn't call them sell outs by any means. Also, art is a plausible business, I don't see why using it as such is a bad thing. The problem occurs when when smaller artists/distributors/companies/labels/whatever else fall behind because they're not as fiscally privileged as some of the bigger ones. Only then does it turn into a marketing race where the art quits mattering.

Even as someone who dispises the status of The Rolling Stones with an incredible passion. I can still accept that they are better than Judas Priest. At least in my opinion.
