Job for a cowboy???

or

Trough the eyes of the dead???

they would be on my top ten.

Embracethedeath 11-10-2008 04:18 PM

Both of those bands are pretty terrible tbh.

khfreek 11-10-2008 04:43 PM

Yeah they really are. I'd take Necrophagist over JFAC anyday, and I'm not that big a fan of death metal (in it's purest form at least).

turboduck17 11-10-2008 07:04 PM

well thats just your opinion. i love JFAC and TTEOTD and you cant change that

Embracethedeath 11-10-2008 07:15 PM

Yeah but that doesnt mean they dont suck

turboduck17 11-10-2008 07:19 PM

it means they dont suck to me.

it also means they dont suck to millions of other people.

it means they suck to you.

Embracethedeath 11-10-2008 07:24 PM

Alright, I'll put it this way:
Any metalhead that has taste in metal will say that both of those bands undoubtedly suck.

Listen to Carnifex for a while, then listen to, say, Necrophagist.

I'm not gonna say that Deathcore is a crappy genre, but if there was a shorter term for "bland death metal," that would be it. While breakdowns are used by a variety of bands (Either metalcore, death metal, or I would go as far as to say some black metal bands may use them), it is pretty much a prevailing trait in deathcore. Good examples of what I'm talking about are bands like Carnifex, Elysia, Job For a Cowboy, and Knights of the Abyss. Breakdowns are pretty much staples in most extreme metal, and deathcore in essence takes the staple gun and goes sex nuts with it.

I like deathcore, but I understand why people don't consider it a genre of music where you'd find some very outstanding bands. Almost all bands in this genre pretty much just substitute potentially good interludes with breakdowns. Personally, I like breakdowns. Not balls-deep crazy about them, but I like to hear a decent breakdown now and then in my truck, just to hear that rhythmic pounding in my chest, then have all chaos open up into the next verse or chorus or outro. Now and then playing a breakdown is alright, but to do it constantly? Nuh uh.

Wanna good Deathcore band? Born of Osiris.

Define "taste." What do you mean? Are you implying people must lick these bands to determine they suck?

Let me remind you that I can delete any post as I see fit especially if all they consist of is:

'i dont care

they rock'

and:

'okay shut up about jfac

SlipKnoT!!!!'

No I don't like that part. I have asked you to behave and all you have done is reply in a flippant fashion. Learn to post respectfully or not at all.

Anteater 11-11-2008 04:16 PM

I prefer black metal to death metal most of the time, but I must say I'm very fond of Opeth and Edge of Sanity. :)

turboduck17 11-11-2008 04:20 PM

opeth is the ****tt, i agree

edge of sanity? never heard of them.

Try to make half intelligent posts that say something. Instead of constant misspellings, bleeped out words, and insults/threats towards others. Dont reply to this like you did to Jackhammers post, just start posting with a little smarts.

turboduck17 11-11-2008 05:16 PM

i was agreeing with him that i like opeth, jeez.

anyway i just looked up edge of sanity, and they are awesome, no to mention a little brootal, with their deep growling vocals and some sick guitar riffs. the drums are eh, but they would deff be on my top.

What do you think of this and the breakdown @ 2:47:

jackhammer 11-11-2008 05:37 PM

Or this splendid little ditty?:

turboduck17 11-11-2008 06:27 PM

@ jackhammer: Wowww! the breakdown at 2 47 diddnt arouse me, but the song was enjoyable. but the seond video was kickasss! i loved it thanks for showing me. the drums were alot more interesting in the second video. as u can tell im big into the drums when i listen to metal

jackhammer 11-11-2008 07:04 PM

Drums definitely make Death metal. They are the singular most important criteria........

turboduck17 11-11-2008 07:29 PM

i confer. i like it with alot of double bass in it, but no just a constant hum, its cooler when its fast double bass drum intricate rythms.

Ones I've liked so far:

Cannibal Corpse
Dying Fetus
Iniquity
Six Feet Under
Grave
Bolt Thrower
Napalm Death
Morbid Angel
Deicide
Carcass

Those are good, don't forget DEATH and Obituary. Individual Thought Patterns by DEATH is one of my favorite metal albums.

turboduck17 11-14-2008 08:10 PM

DEATH is classsic

almauro 11-15-2008 10:24 AM

Nile will get you into technical Death Metal. They also have a great drummer. I don't know how to insert the video, but here's a link at YouTube.

Nile - Annilation of the Wicked

aron 11-15-2008 11:40 AM

slipknot

jackhammer 11-15-2008 12:03 PM

khfreek 11-15-2008 09:51 PM

Have I been living under a rock? Since when did people start thinking that Slipknot is death metal?

turboduck17 11-17-2008 08:17 PM
