Green Day With Three New Albums To Be Released Summer 08

Green Day With Three New Albums? | News @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

Quote:

That's right, Green Day are working on three new albums to be released in the Summer of 2008. After touring on the road to promote their last album the band headed back to their studio to start recording. Billie Joe says that the next album(s) are going to be more than an event of a new record.

The band posted a brief note on Greenday.com explaining that they have starting writing material for their new album.

The post reads: "Billie, Mike and Tre are back from summer vacations working hard on new material for the next Green Day album. Stay tuned for more news next week."

As previously reported by NME.com in June, the band began working on dozens of ideas and demos for the new project, and have been calling the album "an event".

Billie Joe Armstrong told MTV: "At this point, to put a record out with like 12 songs on it and turn it in sounds a bit boring for us. So we want to definitely make something that is well thought out and (that) all of our blood is put into."
I give credit to InvoketheDarkAges for showing me this.

I guess the only think to look forward to is if they cram all their American Idiot type songs on one CD and play some old style songs on the others so I could get those instead.

*yawn*

holdyoualways 04-21-2007 06:24 PM

oh dear god
three times the suckage

The Unfan 04-22-2007 05:57 AM

I'll never understand the hate. Even for being one of their weakest albums American Idiot wasn't a bad pop album at all.

just for kicks 04-23-2007 11:02 PM

aarrgghhh no! 3! this s*** gonna drive me crazy. it will get constant radio play :soapbox:

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-24-2007 03:19 PM

Look on the bright side.

At least with this one you get a coaster , a frizbee AND an ashtray

VCK 04-25-2007 03:42 PM

Green Day keep trying to be a theatrical band and the results are cringeworthy, I miss the good old days when they'd write songs about masturbation and snorting phet.

Inuzuka Skysword 04-25-2007 06:44 PM

..................I can't wait to see how much time they put into those albums!

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 04-27-2007 12:04 PM

r u being serious or are you just beign sarcastic..... cuz their a good band too

swim 04-27-2007 12:16 PM

More is almost always less.

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 04-27-2007 12:25 PM

... :/

that's not true!

swim 04-27-2007 12:30 PM

Look at most double albums that were planned to be double albums.

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 04-27-2007 12:33 PM

..... soooo just cuz they did.... doesn't mean that green day's will suck.... do you even like green day?

swim 04-27-2007 12:35 PM

Did you even read my post? Green Day isn't even mentioned. I said "More is almost always less". I would make the same comment about any band planning on releasing a shitload of music. Because they don't edit it well enough and you're left with a bunch of garbage.

boo boo 04-27-2007 12:44 PM

I wasn't big on the songs I've heard from American Idiot... But I am a fan of concept albums, and punk bands have been known to pull it off in the past.... Husker Du's Zen Arcade and Mike Watts Contemplating the Engine Room for example. I also recently downloaded Penis Envy by Crass, I'm pretty into it.

But yes, I still consider Green Day to be a punk rock band, just because they are very commercial, it makes no difference.

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 04-27-2007 04:43 PM

well i am just saying green day knows what they're doing... and yeah i read what you said but thats not the point my point is that green day is a pretty honest and realistic band and they could probably pull off any thing.....(well almost anything...music wise)

Sparky 04-27-2007 04:45 PM

-.-

cough*ban*cough

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-27-2007 04:52 PM

I thought Sandinista by The Clash was great & thats a triple album :o:

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 04-27-2007 05:21 PM

ugh i have no clue who that is...

11frankthetank11 04-27-2007 06:47 PM

Why don't they choose all their best songs and put them on 1 cd and then make a crappy b-sides cd for hardcore fans. Instead of making 3 crappy albums they could make 1 average album.

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 04-30-2007 01:36 PM

they did that before!!! international super hits!!!! duh do you know anything about Green Day??

He meant of the new material. As in pick all the best of their new material (that they're writing) as opposed to keeping 3 albums worth which will have obvious fluff material in it.

Also, International Superhits wasn't a best of, it was a singles compilation which actually plays out more like a worst of.

isn't that what a best of is? A compilation of their most popular songs?

A best of would be a compilation of their best material. It didn't have Platypus or Take Back.

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 05-01-2007 01:14 PM

okay.. then but yeah you only(well most of the time) put out a album of their best songs when they are splitting up and ending their carrer as a band together

Blain 05-02-2007 06:21 AM

You know what I hate? Greenday are an incredibly talented band. I've heard people say that Billy Joe only got famous off power chords, but my drum tutor saw him back in 1989 or something and said he was incredible. That he absolutely shredded up the frets. Of course I'm not surprised, seeing as he learnt with Satriani but still. Tre Cool is an awesome drummer as well.

Now Billy doesn't do any solos or showing of because it's not "Punk". It still doesn't mean he's not a good guitarist, listen to his rhythm, it's great.

I'm sad that they wouldn't release material showing their full potential.

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 05-02-2007 11:57 AM

that is a very truthful thing....I agree they have the poitental but ...well i guess you could say they are "kinda" holding themselves back because of the "punk" thing that they have going but then again they are a pretty inspiring band to young adults and has a big effect on teens and young adults to have a role model.....so i guess you could say its good but bad at the same time...

MURDER JUNKIE 05-02-2007 03:08 PM

Three chords and the truth, that is what makes a great punk band

I'll still never understand why Green Day gets so much shit

Lady Dark Mist 05-02-2007 06:06 PM

Curious, why don't many of you like the American Idiot cd? From what I see, that's the most popularized one. Is it just because once again the media has made all the real fans sick of the songs from over playing them, or did you all just not like the different sound? I actually loved the AI cd.

<3_BEAUTIFUL_HELL_FAIRY_<3 05-03-2007 11:34 AM

I have listened to most of their cds......and their all atleast fairly good...i liked american idoit just because it tells the truth and i have liked all of their cds(that i have heard) and to be honest they haven't ever truely changed what they were singing they haven't changed (well, their older and smarter and have more and more expericence as they go on with their career) but they are (in my opinion) a very original band that is a very insiprational group for kids who want to be in a band but something is holding them back such as disabilities, school, friends, family, drugs, and relationships.. they have been through alot and have come out on the other end being fairly sucessful people, they all have children, are (from what i have seen *hypotheically*)very responible *can't spell today* and loving fathers) soo yeah i think they are pretty good... and their were(for a few years) a very inspiring band for me

That has nothing to do with it. It has to do with the fact that it's extremely hard to hate America when you're making millions of dollars through their capitalistic system like Green Day is. You can't spend millions of dollars on music videos, live in huge mansions, and say "**** America." It's extremely trendy and hypocritical. Eminem did the exact same thing.

[FONT="Franklin Gothic Medium"]Ah, I uderstand. Yes I was a little angry about that political statement. They shouldn't have directedd it at America because not all Americans are that way and also our country has done more than Canada ever will for the world, but I don't really feel like getting into a political dicussion. However, am I right by thinking that that song was directed at all the people who were sick of how hateful, ignorant and lazy people have become? Is that the only reason that you dislike them,Acratertocoffin?

acratertocoffin 05-03-2007 03:44 PM

I dislike "punk" bands who aren't DIY and thus, not punk. Green Day, Anti Flag, Rancid, Bad Religion, and the Bouncing Souls. They ruin what punk music should be, which would explain why I'm more of a hardcore/emo/screamo kid, because the music is better and the bands have ethics that they follow rather than preach and ignore.

Lady Dark Mist 05-03-2007 03:55 PM

Momentary lapse of memory: Does DIY stand for Do It Yourself?
What do you think of Slipknot, My Chem. Romance, or Korn?

tdoc210 05-04-2007 04:41 PM

face it
even old greenday sucks
