Three chords and the truth, that is what makes a great punk band

I'll still never understand why Green Day gets so much shit

Curious, why don't many of you like the American Idiot cd? From what I see, that's the most popularized one. Is it just because once again the media has made all the real fans sick of the songs from over playing them, or did you all just not like the different sound? I actually loved the AI cd.

I have listened to most of their cds......and their all atleast fairly good...i liked american idoit just because it tells the truth and i have liked all of their cds(that i have heard) and to be honest they haven't ever truely changed what they were singing they haven't changed (well, their older and smarter and have more and more expericence as they go on with their career) but they are (in my opinion) a very original band that is a very insiprational group for kids who want to be in a band but something is holding them back such as disabilities, school, friends, family, drugs, and relationships.. they have been through alot and have come out on the other end being fairly sucessful people, they all have children, are (from what i have seen *hypotheically*)very responible *can't spell today* and loving fathers) soo yeah i think they are pretty good... and their were(for a few years) a very inspiring band for me

That has nothing to do with it. It has to do with the fact that it's extremely hard to hate America when you're making millions of dollars through their capitalistic system like Green Day is. You can't spend millions of dollars on music videos, live in huge mansions, and say "**** America." It's extremely trendy and hypocritical. Eminem did the exact same thing.

[FONT="Franklin Gothic Medium"]Ah, I uderstand. Yes I was a little angry about that political statement. They shouldn't have directedd it at America because not all Americans are that way and also our country has done more than Canada ever will for the world, but I don't really feel like getting into a political dicussion. However, am I right by thinking that that song was directed at all the people who were sick of how hateful, ignorant and lazy people have become? Is that the only reason that you dislike them,Acratertocoffin?

I dislike "punk" bands who aren't DIY and thus, not punk. Green Day, Anti Flag, Rancid, Bad Religion, and the Bouncing Souls. They ruin what punk music should be, which would explain why I'm more of a hardcore/emo/screamo kid, because the music is better and the bands have ethics that they follow rather than preach and ignore.

Momentary lapse of memory: Does DIY stand for Do It Yourself?
What do you think of Slipknot, My Chem. Romance, or Korn?

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.
