I am pleased with the music scene at the moment, but I will agree that regression is useful at times.

How is it a regression? I mean, Soundgarden was Led Zep/Sabbath and it sounds nothing like Wolfmother. I think theres a diffrent intent with them. They have a sloppy asthetic working for them. Zeppelin and Sabbath aren't shooting for that sort of minimalist approach.

Im not denying the influence, but I am saying its not a regression.
