Death Metal And Deathcore
is my favorit type of music, bands like The Faceless, The Black Dahlia Murder, Beneath The Massacre, Deicide, The Absence yeah, anyone else like those bands?:band: < this guy is doin blast beats haha
|
I love death metal. it is my 2nd favorite kind of music behind doom metal. My favorite band is Opeth.
|
I use to listen to it a lot more than I do now. I never really got too much into it. I have an Obituary album that I think is pretty cool. I don't remember the name of it though. Is Entombed considered Death Metal? I've always enjoyed them, especially Wolverine Blues.
|
Entombed is swedish death metal one of the first and finest, wolverine blues is more of death n roll since it has more groove
I myself am a huge fan of death metal, deathcore not so much favorite bands Atheist morbid Angel Cynic Death Arsis Behemoth suffocation Monstrosity Quo Vadis |

You should check out Gorod and Intestine Baalism. They fit into that melodic death metal vibe you seem to have. Quote:

I am going to give some bands now:
Opeth: Prog Death Metal Dark Tranquility: POSSIBLY the best MDM band. Though others compete for that title. Therion (Old): Yeah I don't know how to explain what kind of Death Metal they were, but they are good. Novembers Doom: A good Death/ Doom band Nile: I don't think I have to explain this one. Behemoth: They are a bit creepy (at least to me, I can't listen to them when I am home alone at night,) but they are one heck of a blackened death metal band. I love their drummer. Possessed: Umm they pretty much started death metal. __________________________________________________ _______ Paradise Lost My Dying Bride Anathema (such a geat band in general) And that is about all. |
Are you serious RAR? Suffocation is terrible.

and @thesix, lol. |
I'll assume that's your admitting to their supreme suckage.
+The Concubine +Aborted +Hacksaw to the Throat +Hiroshima Will Burn +Impending Doom +My Bitter End +Veil of Maya +Underneath the Gun +The Yakuza Slaughter +NECROPHAGIST most of those are more on the deathcore side than the melodeath, with the exception of Necrophagist. |
top 15 death metal:
Cryptopsy Arsis Decapitated Hypocrisy Atheist Entombed Death Nile Necrophagist Suffocation Gorguts Opeth Behemoth Wormed Bloodbath Deathcore: All Shall Perish Job for a Cowboy The Faceless |
now that's a list. though underneath the gun is infinitely better than jfac.

Brutal/tech Death:
Cannibal Corpse Nile Necrophagist Dying Fetus Melodic Death (My favorite genre of all); Dark Tranquility Amon Amarth Arch Enemy (With Johan, not Angela) In Flames (Although I only have STYE, I am eager to get a hold of their old stuff) Neaera (more metalcore than death metal, probably) Opeth (Prog death, actually) Perfect Death Metal; lol Death Deathcore; Black Dahlia Murder Job for a Cowboy Elysia The Red Chord All I can think of now. |
the Black Dahlia Murder aren't deathcore they're melodic death metal.
|
They sound deathcore to me.
|
As an elitist prick let me be the first to say that deathcore and melodeath are both lame.
|
tbdm are melodeath. the red chord is tech metal. meedly meedly.
|
Just recently picked up Beneath The Massacre's "Mechanics of Dysfunction." They sucked live at Summer Slaughter, but that could be attributed to the fact that I was mainly there for Necrophagist, and EVERY -core band there just ended up sounding like each other, mainly due to all the local bands also playing there, and most local bands around the St. Louis Area (Even though we were in Illinois, St. L. was just across the river from Pop's) are either hard rock, pop rock, or metalcore. Guess which one was at Pop's.
Separately, deathcore bands are alright, but they can suck in packs, apparently. |
meh, the technical player sounds interesting for a bit but the song writing is pretty boring. I prefer The Faceless for technical Deathcore and Spawn of Possession for technical Brutal Death Metal.
I checked out Winds Of Plague and was pretty disappointed. They are basically a deathcore band with a keyboardist trying to be like Dimmu Borgir. It doesn't work well at all. |
I kind of view deathcore bands as good opening acts; just something to get the crowd riled up..... kind of like a pep squad at a rally right before the big game..... I think I said this already, but I don't remember..... anyways, yeah.
|
Nobody has mentioned OBITUARY shame on you all! i'm not au fait with some of these bands , but I would never class OPETH as Death Metal, they flit from genre to genre. They are fookin awesome however.
Celtic Frost and Bathory are two early protagonists of Death Metal, although their music incorporated many genres of metal. The starting point is generally regarded as SCREAM BLOODY GORE by DEATH. |
God deathcore sucks.

And technically, Possessed's "Seven Churches" which came out two years ago is the starting point of death metal, I think. I know that them and Death were two of the first DM bands. Nevertheless, all hail Death! AWESOMENESS! rip Chucky. And I think Opeth gets associated with Death Metal mainly because of Mikael's death growling (which is superb). Sure, they don't have complete nonsense fast drumming and sweep picking, but I wouldn't rule out death metal as an influence on their music. Quote:

death metal is pathetic. opeth is the only good thing thats come out of the genre but thats only when they're blatantly not playing death meatal like on damnation

deathcore is the new "emo"
|
not really, its just very much closely related to scene music, like emo.
|
hot topic is flooded with jfac shirts

--Carcass--
Surely an originator of Grind Core. I would never class them as Death Metal. |
Their later work is considered some of the first Melodic Death Metal albums.
I prefer their grindcore work more though. |
