I really appreciate those guitarists as instrumentalists but as musicians they just don't seem fit. Too much technicality, while appropriate in cases, just gets old after a couple songs.

Too much technicality?

How can you be too technical?

So yeah i'd rather mystical potato head groove thing to white powder anyday, but for sheer ability to blow me away by standards vai.
"Hey I bet I can play fast over an E minor back track while using the E harmonic minor scale"

I prefer Vai, though I love Satch, because of his album The Fire Garden, just great! The Crying Machine is my favorite song on it and it's the best instrumental I've ever heard!

This was made by someone for Yngiwe Malmsteen. Ridiculous.

Indeed.

I went with Satriani as well, with Vai close behind him. Never been a huge Malsteen fan.

While all three guys are technically proficient-they bore the arse off me with their endless noodling.

David Gilmour is nowhere as technically good as those guys-but his sound is unique-it touches my soul every time that guy plays.

im not saying anyone is the best for the simple fact that every guitarist has their own style, which does not necessarily mean they are the "best". if i had to choose a FAVORITE tho it would be yngwie malsteen
