I'll vote for Vai because he's alright. The others are good too, but no good for me!

Oh well then i got the wrong impression, but atleast my opinions been put out there now, i just don't think there's much to be said for virtuoso guitarists, i mean ok vai is spectacular truly, but i can't ****ing sit there and listen to it for hours on end.
nor do i want to sit around talking about what scale he used where and so on....just doesn't seem like theres much point to it.

Ur all Wrong Tony Iommi is the best guitarest. you can see them him at the Heaven and hell tour that may come to your town. Also if you like them you can get his bands new album Black Sabbath The Dio years.Geezer Butler on base Ronnie James Dio on vocals, Vinny Appice on Drums, and Tony iommi on Guitar. Its a once in a lifetime oppertunity.

I've never been able to get into the whole shredding thing, but some of the Steve Vai songs I've heard were at least tolerable. So I'll go with him.

In skill/talent. Vai > Iommi. Though Iommi owns all 3 in influence, not to mention I prefer him over any of these, and I pity the fool who dosen't. ;)

is there a none of the above? lol. ill give it to satch for having some originality, but all of them play with all speed and no feeling - i want them to just hold a note out longer than a 32nd of a beat for a change

Kurt_Cobain 03-28-2007 04:20 PM

Listen to Satch's 'Rubina', and 'Always with me, always with you.' Tell me they lack feeling. No way.

I used to rant like this, but then I realised I was just trying to piss the metalheads off and didn't really have a point.

Vai just appeals to me more, his technique is well rounded, whereas Satch is more skilled in the legato and tapping department, I don't think he can take him anywhere else, as for overall music I'd probably go with Vai there too as his music is really really weird and amusing, then the songs where he tries to be serious he blows you away, but come on having Yngwie Malmsteen beside these two is a disgrace, yeah sure he played with them in G3 once, but he certainly has not reached the quality of music they have, to me Malmsteen is all about neoclassical shredding in the Phrygian and using arpeggios with economy picking, sure he's fast but at the end of the day nobody will dig it unless it has soul - Andy
