Hey, look. I made a subjective statement, which yielded a subjective response.
Would you prefer I typed in E-Prime? I suppose that would clear up the confusion; but I doubt you even know what it is. EDIT: I consider Putrid Pile's music to possess a self-indulgent, gimmicky quality, undeserving of attention, especially while bands such as Major Organ and the Adding Machine and Nervous Cop go unnoticed. I don't care what it is.
Fact of the matter is the majority of tech isn't songcraft. It's dissonance for the sake of dissonance. Minor seconds, tritones, etc are anti-music. As a 2nd year theory student you should know this (and actually, they can be if not used exclusivly *stares intently at Chris Arp*)

I'm hesitant to discuss anti-music, as that is more of a philosophical discussion, and would require much back-and-forth typing. I myself do not believe in anti-music: there is only music. I define music as sound that is produced, arranged, or designed by a human.
Obviously everyone defines music differently, and this definition largely affects their musical tastes and opinions. |

I wholly agree: it does require more talent. However, I am a staunch believer in and defender of the idea that Art should not be judged on the grounds of talent. That is a narrow-minded and dangerous way of looking at Art, in my opinion.

On that scale, I would agree with you; however, your scale is entirely different from mine. Art is expression foremost, and entertainment second. Those are the only two scales I weigh Art on, though I don't really weigh Art much. If I like it, I like it; if I don't, I don't. Personally, I can get something out of basically every genre of music, from the harsh distortion of Lightning Bolt to the epic neofolk ballads of The Decemberists.
