Isn't grindcore a genre of punk?

Its sorta both. There some Grindcore that is just very brutal Punk but there is also the more metal type, in a crude symmetrization the more metal type grindcore is like a heavily punk influenced death metal in a sense. There are definitely a lot of metal Grindcore.

So the metal kind would be like Napalm Death and the punk kind would be Sore Throat?

pretty much, also bands like Nasum, Pig Destroyer, Gadget, and Circle of Dead Children are notable 'metal' grindcore bands.

Pomp has links with prog, but as it's title suggest's. Pomp=Pomposity. The emphasis was more on album art, lyrics and costumes, rather than musical virtiousity. It was mainly a British thing, but is an accepted movement.

This makes me think that symphonic rap would be a very interesting genre.

Thrash is covered if you read the thread extensively. Grindcore is in the Punk section. Tech metal ---what is that?
