see, the fact that you're main argument for liking godsmack is that it's "listenable" speaks volumes. Its not original, it's not unique in any sense of the word. It's generic, predictable, but not offensive, simply because they don't ever try to risk being a little bit different from the hundreds of other bands who have come before them, or will come after them, who sound exactly like them. They're boring.

this band used to be an Aice in Chains cover band- Godsmack- get it? They got big which was cool to watch because they are from the same state as me,so I heard them alot when thery're weren't big

but...they're sound is definitely NOT unique...unless they've totally changed.

I like them. All bands will inevitably sound somewhat similar if you split enough hairs. I'm not saying that they're the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they definitely deserve more respect than they're getting here.

Seeing them live is definately something that I would say was a one of the greater bands I have seen live. And O you're right about bands sounding similiar...they all have something in common thats why they can be grouped in to genres.

Thats not the point. It really depends on what genre your in and how much you strech the genre's limits. For instance Melodic Death Metal is a VERY narrow genre and there is almost no improvements to be made (I would think) on that genre. Then look at the wide progressive genres and you can basically do what you want in those. Here is a good example:

Trans-Siberian Orchestra is symphonic metal, but they are are far different from the symphonic metal band Therion. You can still be unique and be in the same genre.

I'm not sure as to what you are referring.

That list was made up off the top of my head of bands that I dislike intensely.

I guess it's just the fact that all *cool* people going around dissing Korn, and Creed and Godsmack. What I have a difficult time conceiving is that you're saying these are the worst bands. If you said most overrated bands, I can understand that, but worst? If you classify these as the *worst* bands, I can only come to 1 of 2 conclusions. You either listen to the radio basically never, cuz they play stuff 10x worse than this, or you're just another one of these people that go along w/ the crowd, and say basically yeah, Godsmack's lame, they're just like, trying to cash in on this whole metal phase. I don't buy it at all. I believe Godsmack is a band that believes in their sound and makes music from within, and to say Godsmack, Korn, and Creed are some of the worst bands, I've got to move to D.C. because you have some unbelievably good radio stations.
