I suppose Sonata Arctica can be fairly cheesy - listen to Letter to Dana and it'll probably give you a few laughs. I do like Winterheart's Guild though. I guess Sabaton is somewhat cheesy too.

But there is some other good power metal out there like Communic, Angra, Iced Earth, Hibria, Kamelot, Lost Horizon and Anubis Gate.

Definately start with helloween If you want some good helloween songs listen to.

1. Keeper Of The Seven Keys (Epic)
2. I want Out
3. Halloween (Epic)

Then instead of rooting through a load of sonata arctica's ****, listen to the cage hope this will help

Sonata Arctica is my ****! Twilightning is pretty good as well, only their first album though.
