I hear what your saying but seriously you can't just call 10 bands emo and that's all the emo bands around they're mor than that. I have respect for the founding fathers of the genre but there are many more emo/screamo bands than the old ones. that band that has been out for only a year has the worst recording and I listeni to bands no one has ever heard of on crappy indie labels so i know bad recording when I see it. I know where your comeing from but think about a genre doesn't stop when the founders die off.

Why do you keep saying founding fathers[because I never mentioned it]? I can list 300 emo and screamo bands for you right now if that will realize that there has been real growth and there still is in emo and screamo. There's more to it than the base. The bands that you're talking about are not what was the next step. They were a complete side step. Screamo has been growing completely independent of them.

The bands that you're talking about have formed and grown pretty independent from the diy, play in peoples basements, hand out cdrs and all the junk I'm on about scene. What you're talking about is still a branch of hardcore but it's not emo.

Genres don't change for bands. Get that in your head. Genres do not change. Genres are definite. The criteria for a genre is constant. When a new sound emerges then a new genre is formed. So the since bands you're on about don't fit the criteria they are pop post-hardcore.
