Never said it was bad quality[you did and I said I thought it was ok and I'd definitely heard worse]. I think it's of average quality. Good quality=/=Good production. Bad Quality=/= Bad production.

Okay let's take a look here, at how you say the genre has evolved, and emo somehow became more of a fashion statement than music.
Okay we all know it started out with Rites of Spring/Embrace: Then it became stuff like Moss Icon: Then we had... say... Cap'n Jazz and Saetia: I'M TOTALLY STARTING TO SEE A CORRELATION! |

Okay we'll say at this point it broke off into stuff like... The Get Up Kids and Angel Hair:
Okay from here on we see the definite split. Band like Simple Plan were just so emo, because they sang about girls, while bands like Ampere were just noisy obnoxious punks: |

Well from there on the "emo" sound somehow split up again into whinier acoustic stuff (Dashboard) as well as harder, make-up wearing posers (Silverstein), not to mention the feeling driven singing dark emo bands that were so sad and cut themselves (MCR):
But really who knows what happened to bands like Circle Takes the Square, Amanda Woodward, and Black Castle. They probably just stopped existing. Who listens to them anyway? |

Yes, I can see how the real bands kept making music that was true to the genre while keeping their gimmicky fashions at a minimum, while all of the trashy, cookie-cutter pop-punk screaming bands and whiny alt-rockers took advantage of media hype and misconception to create an over-exposed totally mislabeled genre now known as "emo". |

alright there, perfect sonnet. As far as you being ticked off about how other bands haven't gotten the recogn. they deserve, and other less talented bands getting more attention, don't worry about it. If those bands u like love what they do, then they have their reward right there. I started this thread bcuz I actually didn't see a part for emo, and I'll check out some of the bands u guys hav mentioned. thx.

Christ, I can't believe I read through this thread. Catie your patience amazes me, I didn't see one profane name calling by you and by the 3rd page I would've called Loser a dumb close-minded know nothing shithead.
Anyway, Loser if you want to bring this up in the appropriate forum (the emo/hardcore forum) that is fine, but this isn't the place for it. Also if you do bring it up don't keep bringing up the same points (that get proven wrong) and having no basis for your argument its annoying and stupid. /locks |
