Urban-you make some valid points, and I probably prefer MINISTRY as well. THE LAND OF RAPE AND HONEY and PSALM 69 are great great albums. I thought ANIMOS.. was patchy though. What I was alluding to is NIN are still popular whereas MINISTRY are not so much, and for this reason NIN get a rawer deal. I do agree though that some NIN songs can come across as extremley whiny, but check out their new one. you may be pleasantly surprised.
Mamagarmr-THROBBING GRISTLE were way ahead of their time, but I don't find them particulary easy to listen to. KILLING JOKE and NITZER EBB were two big influences on NIN, and NITZER EBB in particular; need reappraising.

I still love 'em. I heard my girlfriends mum the other day saying, "Ninety Snails! That's a weird name" - Haha!
Better than the other common comment I hear: "Nine Inch Nails? Sure sounds like they're hitting something with a hammer"! - but that ones not too bad either.

That's pretty much how I feel. Everything went downhill after Pretty Hate Machine.
I've been trying to comb Trent's discography looking for more gems but pretty much everything I liked was hidden within Pretty Hate Machine to begin with.
