Brown is average at best, is he good?, sure. But thats a requirement, being good is one thing, being one of the best is something else. Brown is just another bass player who does his job well and nothing more. This is what seperates Krist Novoselic, Michael Anthony, Roger Waters, Noel Redding, Lemmy, Mike Mills, Duff Mckagan, Dee Dee Ramone, Tom Hamilton and Sting from people like Chris Squire, John Entwhistle, Geddy Lee, Tony Levin, Les Claypool, Paul Mccartney, John Paul Jones, Phil Lesh, Jack Bruce and Flea...And he isnt even on the same catagory as the former bass players, because they at least make audible basslines and fills, im hardly aware that Pantera even has a bass player most of the time, its mostly Dimebag and Vinnie trading licks and Brown is just there...And before anyone calls me biased, they should know that i am a big Pantera fan.

for a minute there I thought you were selling me Micheal Anthony as a good bass player, and I was going to say, "Running with the devil has one F'ing note"

Sting does one note basslines too, big deal, if the song requires a one note bassline to make it work, so be it. Anthony could be very good if that was what the song needed. On Fire, Hot For Teacher and Jamies Cryin all has some decent bass. He isnt amazing or anything, neither is Sting, even though you once tried to convince me that he was.

I tried to convince you the world was round too, sometimes I just give up and call you stupid.

Like here for instance where you tried to compare Sting, whos down mountains of intellectual, highly crafted good songs with decent melodies, to Micheal Anthony, talentless bitch bassist for one of the biggest **** rock bands of all time whose orders mainly consisted of "keep it simple so i can solo my ****ing balls off....got it?"

I think you have songwriting confused with actual bass playing, **** yeah hes a great songwriter. As an actual bass player, he is nothing special, any experienced bass player will tell you that. He mostly plays blues roots scales, which for the most part, is kids stuff, so in that regard, he isnt any different from Anthony since he plays basic blues scales too. They might belong to completely different genres, but their technical ability is about the same. We are not comparing apples and oranges here, its just oranges and oranges.

Listening to RHCP more, I realise why people hold Flea in such high regard.

Waters hasn't got much of a mention in this topic, but he's really good. I just listened to his Bass solo on Money, in a live concert, awesome

Yeah, i love Waters bass playing personaly, i think he makes some fantastic basslines, and his playing compliments the music well, which to me is much more important than being a technical wizard. That being said he isnt one of the best, in terms of skill, David Gilmour is actualy better, just listen to Pigs(three different ones)and Hey You, some crazy work on the fretless there.
