The Blood We Shed Is All We Have
I'm going to an Abby Martin concert tonight.
They're from Woodhaven. The show I'm going to is at The Modern Exchange in Southgate. They're playing with At the Throne of Judgement and FORTHISISTANDALONE. They've also played with Job For a Cowboy and Animosity before. www.myspace.com/abbymartinmusic They've released one EP. Song Recommendations: "Kill Frenzy" "100293" They sound a lot like The Black Dahlia Murder. I hope it's gonna be straight metal because I've been hoping for some punching lately. Word.

I forgot to mention that they're extremely posi and highly suggest you go to a show if you ever get the chance, they have amazing energy.
Even though the scene kids were running wild with ninja moves, it was ridiculous because everyone loved them so much. Fun night!

Black Dahlia Murder are pretty sucktastic. Its what happens when you mix xscenexcorex crap with whatever that junk At The Gates Made. It certainly wasn't good when ATG did it, and a lot worse when watered down by As I Lay Dying's riffs.
One of the worst live bands around too (I had to, Goatwhore were opening for them). |

Dude you are unbelievable, The Black Dahlia Murder in fact have been heavily influenced by At the Gates, but they were around ten years ago. BDM came out with an even more innovative metal sound enfused with more hardcore and melody. That alone certifies their greatness, despite the fact that the musicians are also exceptionally skilled at their instruments, and the singer sure as hell can belt out screams.
To Unfan, I've seen The Black Dahlia Murder twice, both times it was amazing, they have fantastic energy and make the performance extremely believable. Unlike a metal act such as JFAC, they retain their sound in live performances, the preamps aren't raised as much so the guitars sound the same, and the amplified drums are nearly identical to the recordings. By the way, where the hell did you go Ethan? The Black Dahlia Murder are in no way "scene fags trying to play real metal". At their shows, ninja dancers are hardly ever tolerated, the players radiate fierce energy but still uphold the concentration it takes to play their parts exceptionally well, and the music rarely involves a breakdown (instead focusing on extreme musicianship and performance for the audience). All in all they're a damn good band and put on a damn good show, contrary to the beliefs of The Unfan. For the record The Unfan, I respect your opinion and know that you are entitled to one, I'm just saying it's wrong.

How can an opinion be wrong? Mainstreamified metalcore is just about always bad, and I dislike melodeath. I fail to see how mixing the two can result in something good. Though interesting to note, your opinion isn't wrong either.

I was joking about your opinion, your damn well entitled to one, no matter how much I disagree.
I agree with you on one thing though, mainstream metalcore isn't good a lot of the time, not because it's bad, but because the players all learn the same crap from one another and put it in their music as "the new thing". Essentially it all ends up sounding the same. However, BDM has very minute metalcore influences, they take hardcore melodies and mix extremely intricate and complex death metal instrumentals. This, along with the amazing vocals, keeps me stuck to this band. It's understandable if you dislike melodeath, but that doesn't automatically qualify BDM as "sucktastic xscenexcorex crap", that's ridiculous, and quite an ignorant opinion.
