Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Now just HOW GOOD is this record? I hope there are others here who have checked this out, and if not, then seriously, you've got NO IDEA what you're missing. The technical brilliance of this album, combined with its richness in variation and experimentation, really put it in quite a league of its own. Though I do understand that some might find this severely difficult listening due to the occasional cookie-monstering.
This is, incidentally, the first and only Opeth record I've ever listened to. So, can anybody school me on where to go from here? |
No joke man. "The Grand Conjuration" get loads of play on my iTunes.
There other albums are good as well. "Damnation" and "Deliverance" are worth picking up. |
Ghost Reveries seems to earn a bit of unwarranted flak from some people - there are Opeth fans who don't like it that much either.
Personally, I love it. Quite a varied album with great songs the whole way through. Atonement is quite interesting. Ghost of Perdition is one of my fav Opeth songs. Where to go next? Probably Blackwater Park - that and Morningrise are my fav Opeth albums. |
My favorite albums are My Arms, Your Hearse and Still Life. Absolutely phenomenal music.
|
brilliance, I've only got this album and Damnation by Opeth though. I seriously don't know which one i like better
|
Its one of the better Opeth releases. The leads feel more frequent and solid.
You can hold off on Blackwater Park as it is easilly their worst. Try Still Life, Orchid, and My Arms Your Hearse. |
Morningrise is the best and their only good one
i listened to Ghost reveries and gave it a fair chance, i thought it blowed |
i cant stand Ghost Reveries. opeth have gone from one of my favourite bands to one i never listen to. tastes changing yes, but ghost reveries had a bit to do with it.
