My thoughts on Boris vary.. they're so prolific its impossible to hear enough of their releases to form an opinion on the band IMO. i do like what ive heard though, which is Pink, Sun Baked Snow Cave and the fantastic Altar.
Altar is a collaboration with Sunn O))), not a Boris release, but yes; it's very good.

I love this band. Heavy Rocks, Dronevil Final, Akuma no Uta, Pink, Rainbow, both versions of Smile and Altar are all solid releases that I listen to regularly.

"Heavy Rocks" and "Flood" have to be my favorite by them thus far. Pretty good Melvins worship band.

They are much more than that.

well, they are named after a Melvins song... so easy to say so. I know they are, but they still worshipped Melvins.

so I am saying, my comment is based on that fact. If you called your band In Bloom and played a style of music very similar to Nirvana, you will of course be plauged by comparisons to Nirvana, and it would be no secret you started a band because you worshipped them. So my statement is still true in many ways.

One of my all time favourite bands, I love them so much. Seen them live twice, met Atsuo, and have signed tickets, posters, and setlists from him.

I also own Absolutego, Amplifier Worship, Heavy Rocks, Heavy Rock Hits Vol. 3, and their split with Joe Volk, all on vinyl.

This explains so much. Boris have a few ok songs, but they have this tendency towards the terrible, which certainly makes sense - if you model yourself after a godawful band like the Melvins, no amount of talent will help.

I KNEW you'd make a disparaging remark about Boris, but I wasn't expecting one about the Melvins too. Explain thyself, scalawag!
