Gojira - From Mars To Sirius
1. Ocean Planet 2. Backbone 3. From The Sky 4. Unicorn 5. Where Dragons Dwell 6. The Heaviest Matter of the Universe 7. Flying Whales 8. In The Wilderness 9. World To Come 10. From Mars 11. To Sirius 12. Global Warming First off, these guys are French. Normally this would be a tragedy. However, they also play metal which becomes, in fact, a blessing. France puts out quality metal act after quality metal act and Gojira are no exception. In fact they seem to be the rule. This is not thier first release and I hope it's not their last. They have a definite Meshuggah vibe going on, but in all honesty I prefer this album to nearly all Meshuggah however (Destroy Erase Improve tops it...barely...). The greatest part about this band is the rhythmic preciseness of it. Every note that should be there is there, at the exact time it should be there. The sections are predictable but in a good way, you look forward to the transition and when it finally hits, you can't believe how good it feels. The vocals range from a mid level growl to very gruff singing (almost Mastodon like). This album also show cases one of the best production jobs ever. Slap on some high quality headphones and jam the **** out. GET INTO IT http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EMTZ3ZBK

Do you have a website for them rise? I'd like to preview them before I'll download the album since my internet is so slow.
Edit: It's cool, got it. http://www.gojira-music.com/ Quote:

And I'm going to that tour on the 15th. The COB set-list is surprisingly decent, so it should be a good time.

I enjoy their older albums greatly. I have only heard the title track to this album and I was disappointed. There was some extremely annoying riffs in it. This was just the one song mind you, I will gladly download the album(tomorrow, I'm about the go to bed right now) and listen. I just hope that this album will deliver.

I just downloaded the album. It's really good. Thanks
From The Sky is insane. Probably my favourite track on the album.

I was going to start a thread until I decided to be do a search. Easily one of the better Metal band's to do the rounds regardless what new genre they are classed as. I love them because they have a real old school vibe about them. Thunderous riffs, an absolutely brilliant drummer and a tendency to diverge sometimes and add a little ambience. I personally think that they are the best Metal band in Europe at the moment even though Meshuggah and the American band Mastodon seem to have bigger fan bases. Listen and change your mind!
Heaviest Matter Of The Universe (I usually post the live version so here is the studio version):
From the new album:
