I like bands that have concepts running through a series of albums rather than every song being about the same thing,
Someone mentioned Alice Coopers Welcome To My Nightmare , the same concept also runs through his Dada & Last Temptation album. I think the Cure did it best with Pornography / Disintegration & Bloodflowers

Pink Floyd - Darkside of the Moon, The Wall.
Mastadon - Leviathan, Blood Mountain. Protest the Hero - Kezia (Even though they don't like it to be called a concept album but it tells a story so they can't avoid it.) The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute The Who - Tommy That's all I really care about so... |

Hmm. There are quite a few great concept albums but I have to say that my personal favorite is probably The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails.
Frances the Mute is good too though as is El Cielo by Dredg. |

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. |
