I like bands that have concepts running through a series of albums rather than every song being about the same thing,

Someone mentioned Alice Coopers Welcome To My Nightmare , the same concept also runs through his Dada & Last Temptation album.

I think the Cure did it best with Pornography / Disintegration & Bloodflowers

Pink Floyd - Darkside of the Moon, The Wall.

Mastadon - Leviathan, Blood Mountain.

Protest the Hero - Kezia (Even though they don't like it to be called a concept album but it tells a story so they can't avoid it.)

The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute

The Who - Tommy

That's all I really care about so...

Hmm. There are quite a few great concept albums but I have to say that my personal favorite is probably The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails.
Frances the Mute is good too though as is El Cielo by Dredg.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.
