of COURSE theres a pretentious element to it, like alot of experimental music... the whole idea behind it is to use music and ideas that have never been used before.
But who cares? if you're as innovative as Sunn O))) & Boris (and although its hard to tell on record, these guys are very talented) then you're allowed to be pretentious IMO! The appeal is the atmosphere.. the fact that this music can make you feel like your floating in space and trapped inside a dark vibrating box at the same time.

I have heard that the atmosphere is good when you go to see them live.

well that all depends on the definition of music. id say 'music' is anything you enjoy listening to... which, for me, is this album. Wikipedia agrees.

it depends which boris album... they're a bit more varied than Sunn O))). The collaboration isn't really typical of either though.

Boris's album Pink is at the opposite end of the spectrum compared to this collab, Muzak. Way, way more energetic. I actually rate Pink as one of the most all out assaults I've ever heard.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. |
