Doom metal - and I'm happy that it seems to be quite popular here.
Post-metal is close - I keep atmospheric/post inside the doom folder of my music collection anyway.

Thrash, though I still hate Megadeth.
My second fav is Prog Metal, though it still should be said that a good deal of what is labeled Prog Metal is neither progressive or even that heavy. |
