Yes but it doesn't mean they are actually like that (although in Mayhems case i'd have a hard time not believing it)

Yes there is plenty of people that like speed nowadays including myself but I love listening to it, and ill be damned if that isin't hard to play, but I don't just like speed, my favorite Musucian is Jens Johansson the keyboardist for Stratovarius and he's not all about speed he's got plenty of originality and is incredible at phrasing and improv.

Im not a big fan of Rusty but I like some things like that IE. Dragonforce mainly because its cheesy and the solos are fun to listen too.

Of course it's hard to play like Cooley and Batio, they're damn good at what they do, I'm not denying that, shredding is extremely hard to do, then again, it would also be hard to open 1000 cans of Pepsi with your buttcheeks, that dosen't make it a useful skill.

Not that speed can't be used in good ways, I know plenty of great bands that use speed in very creative ways, including many metal bands... But good shredders nowadays are rare, hell, Batio, Cooley, whatever... It all sounds exactly the same to me.

Anyway, I do like a lot of metal, I listen to a lot of thrash metal, prog metal, a little doom and goth metal here and there, and Dimmu Borgir, so thats at least one black metal band I like... Reving you up has lost it's fun quickly, so lets call a truce and have a drink on me because I'm tired of arguing with complete strangers over the same exact thing over and over again, you are by no means the first metalhead I have had nasty words with on the internet, far from it... I just hope you know that it's not just some secret agenda I have agains't metal, as I criticize all genres equally... Hell, I used to tease everyone on the prog forum for liking Marillion.

I'm bored, I wonder whats on Adult Swim right now.

I dislike Dream Theater imensely, one primary reason is that people use them as an example for disliking progressive rock, but that being said it's no different than me using Mayhem as an example for metal, so I appologise, our stances are rather similar, so I realise that I have been a big hypocrite... Lets just forget the whole thing.

People say Dream Theater sucks because it's the truth. Pure mediocrity.

Oh yeah, theres also the tons of idiots I meet on music forums as well.

I dislike metalheads, all and all, the only real problem I have with metal is pretty much everything it stands for, not to mention it's core fan base... I loath them as people, and I see them as nothing more than bullies.

I actually do like metal FYI (prog metal ) but I detest most power metal and pretty much everything that falls under extreme metal (death metal, black metal, etc)... Granted I like thrash (and ironically the most unapollogetically macho of the bunch) but thats more based on the music itself rather than it's priciples, at least it dosen't give me serious ear damage.
/agree
Although I do like death metal. And metalcore.

Mainly it's just the fanbase I dislike: huge, grungy lowlifes with long, black hair. "WORSHIP SATAN!"

Let's not.

(Yes I know that's an extreme, not to mention ignorant, generalization. So bite me.)

Hm. It would appear one cannot find mature, intelligent forum-goers anymore.

Pity.

Can someone give me some more 'metal women' to listen to?

As I mostly listen to riot grrrl style stuff.

Arch Enemy.

and boo boo, I dislike the general attitude of metal heads as well (which is a bit hypocritical because I listen to Metal), but to make those generalizations that you said is plain ignorant. I know you are better than that, I hold deep respect to your music tastes and opinions. I know you were able to come to terms at the end but I hope you learn something out of it.
