Default New metal (NOT nu-metal!)

Just a few thoughts on some new metal albums coming out this year.. 2006 is proving to be a year of good metal! we've already had amazing releases from Kayo Dot, Yakuza, Amenra, Sika Redem, Rosetta, Atavist, Moss, Om etc and more coming up from..

My Dying Bride - A line of Deathless Kings. a slightly more upbeat turn for them but vocals are on top form and the musicianship is darkly hauting as always.

Goatwhore - A jaunting Curse. One for the extreme sludge/doom fans out there.. stupidly heavy and rather good.

Sunn O))) & Boris - Altar. This is a stunning peice of work. Boris add drums and rhythm to the beautiful but usually unbearable drones of Sunn O))) to make what is possibly the best music in either bands back catalogue. Anyone know when its out?

Mastodon - Blood Mountain. Its not as bad as i first thought... kudos to them for having Scott Kelly on the second track, he makes it slightly more worth listening to.

Flatlands - Vermuyden. you cant expect me to post without a mention :p but seriously, its better than the new isis album.

thoughts?
