What has been coming out lately then? I've seen plenty of great rock albums in 2006. |

But in an effort to answer the question as to whether or not real rock is dead i just mentioned st.anger. It's not a particularly great album but it was mde by an extremly talented band. once again, i do not think the genre is dead

but yes. St Anger is one of the worst metallica albums ever. They should definitely stop making music. They've fulfilled their quota of good songs and bad songs.

From that post, I assumed you meant rock was needing saving or to be kept alive. But hey |

With crap like Greenday and MCR being considered the top rock music, and equally crappy bands like Avenged Sevenfold being considered the non-mainstream "saviors" of rock, yes, real rock is dead. But there's still time to resussicate it!

There are REAL rock bands however the buying public is no longer interested and neither are the record companies. The real cash cows are modern country and adult contemporary, rock and roll records rate relatively low on a major label's earnings. Rock and roll records have a tendancy to need major marketing buzz because the target audience is so fickle, in short it just costs more money to make a rock and roll record.
Yes, I still call them records |

Rock will only be dead if we stop listening to it and if we like something we hear we will listen to it. I will always buy the next metallica album in the slightest hope that they remember where they came from and what really made them who they are and we all know it was the first 4 albums before they become known in the rock genre. Metal and rock will never die as long as fans stay true to what they enjoy listening to.
