Can someone confirm if they've seen one of these anywhere before. Look at the back of the Opiate cover, I've never heard about one like that.

Looks kinda iffy, if you'll look at the back cover there is neither a barcode nor a BMG logo, the mention of which is kind of strange too because BMG probably doesn't even own the rights to that record.

So I don't know. I wouldn't buy it, but that's just me.

cardboard adolescent 09-28-2006 09:10 PM

He does have 100% approval rating though.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-28-2006 09:15 PM

It could be a Japanese import or something.

I`ve got a few E.P.s with extra live bonus tracks on them or special releases from there.
Also in japan it`s not uncommon to have all the infomation about the product on a piece of paper wrapped around the cellophane which would have been taken off when it was opened which would explain why there`s no record company details on the CD itself.

Merkaba 09-28-2006 09:21 PM

^ True, speaking of Japan, I found this and wondered what it was as Wikipedia gave it no mention. Soon found out it was only released in japan. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=71676254

Oh the 100% means nothing really, it's just how well all his other auctions went, not all of which were "rare" musical items eather. Though he does have that nice vinyl of Lateralus up for sale at the moment.

I probably won't buy it, as I've never even heard of an Opiate like this. Well that and come closing time it will be too dare.

MoonlitSunshine 10-23-2006 11:12 AM

Well, I've never heard Aenima, Salival or 10,000 days, So I'm not voting on this yet. My favourite so far is Undertow, though.

RhythmGod 10-23-2006 03:45 PM

I can't decide between aenema or lateralus.
They're both great.

Skid Mark 10-25-2006 01:20 AM

Definately Lateralus... but Aenima gets bonus points for Third Eye

idowhatiamtold 11-02-2006 12:59 PM

AEnima is their best album. I saw them about a month ago and I was so happy that they still played some older stuff. I hate when bands only play the new stuff. It bores me.

misunderstood 11-16-2006 09:53 PM

My favorite Tool album is Ænima followed closely by Lateralus though. Ænima's got some of my favorite Tool tracks including 'Stinkfist', 'jimmy', and 'Pu****'..though I prefer the live version of 'Pu****' off Salival.
Lateralus comes in very close for me too though. That album has outstanding tracks as well..'Disposition', 'The Patient' and 'Ticks and Leeches' are some of my favorites off that particular album.

Unfortunately I have not seen Tool on any of their recent tours for 10,000 Days. The one time I was suppose to go see them, Maynard fell sick and my show as postponed. Anyway, I did catch them during their Lateralus tour about four years ago and they were beyond great! They didn't play too many songs off their previous albums but we did get a chance to hear nearly all of the Lateralus album live..minus 'The Patient' and 'Ticks and Leeches'. Great band.

toolfan01 11-17-2006 01:18 AM

favourite albums in order are aenima, undertow, opiate, 10,000 days and lateralus.
seen them twice in Australia both times for the lateralus tour, this time they dont seem to be touring the whole of oz, only sydney and melbourne, the rest of the country they will be in the big day out concerts, a bit p***** off about that, although seeing them in a festival environment should be interesting, they will have to be a bit more audience interactive though i think.

This live version gives a wee bit of a hint at the start of the song, Maynard mentions a psychologist called Carl Jung, and a thing called Hycholonics(?).

Good luck finding anything about it, Googles never heard of that word...providing I spelt it right.

Infact I'll upload it now...

Is he saying high colonic? Which apparantly is a colon cleansing procedure.....

"Cleaning the colon to detoxify is not some new fad or technique. It has been in use since 1500 BC by the Egyptians. Dr. Elmer Lee introduced the first method used by many physicians in the USA for irrigating the intestines in the late 1800s."

Opiate is my fav by a long shot...none of them do what this album does for me. But claiming Tool as my fav band I can say that I enjoy all of them and would defend any of them if the need arised. I also think that people who like Aenima as their fav have never given Undertow or Opiate a fair chance.

skindredluver 01-03-2007 12:12 PM

Mine is undertow i dont like any of the other ones.

That makes since, it is their most accessible album.

And I use the term "accessible" very loosely.

NaNaNer 01-04-2007 10:15 AM

I thought Aenima was..but either way the both are pretty accessible.

boo boo 01-04-2007 10:19 AM

I don't find Tool that inaccessible at all, but then again I like The Residents and Captain Beefheart, so it really depends on what you're used to.

But I understand that to most people with more secular musical tastes or with little interest in progressive rock and the like, Tool are pretty inaccessible... So in that regard I choose to use the term "Accessible" loosely since a lot of people consider all Tool albums pretty hard to get into.

NaNaNer 01-04-2007 10:23 AM

I would have to agree. Even though I might be looking into the statement a little harder then I should.

~nutshell~ 01-04-2007 01:19 PM

Aenima and Undertow....Lateralus didn't do it for me as much.

Rainard Jalen 01-05-2007 07:50 AM

Album being a generic term for studio album, Opiate and Salival don't really fit into the equation. But I'm being nit-picky.

I don't think I could really identify a favourite record, because I like each one for different things - and each one is better than the others in some respect.

Also, I think all of those 'Tool fans' who cast aspersions upon 10,000 Days are a bunch of... well... tools. Inappreciative, blood-sucking, parasitic leeches.

NaNaNer 01-05-2007 08:49 AM

They each have a different feel and vibe to them but what Opiate does for me is something quite different and desirable then what the others do..

Undertow doing the exact same thing but on a totally different level...the each play and important role in my life...

And I would have to agree with you on the last statement you made.

white_powered_zombie 01-06-2007 11:44 PM

Undertow or Opiate.

"Get that Bob Marley wanna be mother****er outa here"

LAMC / Maynard's **** - salival the first seven minutes which i guess is LAMC is just brilliant!!

Merkaba 01-07-2007 12:36 AM

You could actually stand to listen to LAMC? I couldn't handle it, it really got on my nerves, but I do love the rest of Salival very much. No Quater blows the doors off Led Zeppelins original and You Lied is pretty wicked too. The live versions of their album tracks are all better than the album versions in my opinion while Merkaba is just plain freaky haha.

But yeah, I reckon it's a near perfect compilation.
