I'm not saying EVERYONE loves AFI. I'm just saying a lot more people like them now that it's become 'cool' to like music like that, and it's in the charts.
Think about the charts a few years ago, it was all s club 7, blue, busted etc, things are CHANGING, there's a lot more 'pop-rock' or 'pop-punk' and 'indie' coming into the popular music scene now anyway. |

i guess, bands go mainstreamier [yeah thats a word] so that at least they get noticed more, then everyone can be all "yeah their first albums better" etc, i dunno.
i got no idea really. but, on a side note, i hatehatehate rooftops. i didnt mind start something, was catchy, & not in an overly irritating way. but fakesoundofprogress was fun & reminds me of old times. so thats cool. wow, i serve no purpose on these forums... eh.

It's like the band... bandwagon. They realize something is a hit before it's well-known, then everyone flocks to it, making it popular, and then before you know it, the genre's dead and/or full of mediocre bands.
Hate that. In any case... Lostprophets... yeah... don't have much else to say.

I dont know, its just frustrates the hell out of me because its seems like they dumb themselves down for more recognition... i mean fair enough if thats what you wanna get out of your career, if the world recogntion is what gets you off, fine. but to me, music should be about the passion, and showcasing what you do have. fake sounds was fun and energetic and full of some kinda power thats kinda dwindled since and lib trans is just terribly disappointing to look at and go.. why... whyd you do it?? The offspring had a hand at it, metallica with anythign from relaod onwards was a bit like that, the newest disturbed album (cant remember the name right now) was a bit mainstreamy. I dont know. Maybe they genuinely just want to change direction. Maybe they're all just ****tards. Yeah. i like that possibility

Lostprophets are supposed to have a new album this year and there's been rumours that they'll be making a bit of a return to their old sound. I hope there's some truth in that.
Like thousands of others, I bought The Fake Sound Of Progress as soon as it came out and I liked what I heard. I thought Lostprophets had a lot of potential and I genuinely believed they'd be a band I'd like forever. Then they released Start Something and I realised I was wrong. Liberation Transmission was even worse. They had something quite interesting going on on that first album and they completely lost it. |

A friend of mine has said that he really likes the new album, and he knows his stuff, but from what I have heard of their past stuff, i'm not impressed. A bit teen orientated for me I think.

Yeah, I'd say that 14/15 year olds are probably their target audience at the moment. I think the first album went down well with university students more than anyone (but that's just based on the conversations I've had over the internet).
