I actually proposed it myself in the other thread. If there is one thing I hate, it's being mixed up and being hated almost instantly.

SOAD aren't horrible, just horribly misunderstood.

Overhyped in some ways, underrated in others... Depending on who we are talking about here.

And I said it was Nu Metal because on Toxicity, it says somthing about them being a great Nu Metal band or somthing. So don't say that I was stupid for calling them Nu Metal when *looks at cover* spin magazine called them Nu Metal.

Reasons? the musicianship is simplistic, vocals are poor, song structures are poor, lyrics are apalling. they take a few simple political ideas and some random 'original' influences and mix it up with some average down-tuned nu-metal. Its attention seeking angsty rock aimed at the 'rebellious' kids market.

and if you like Industrial-influenced nu-metal, Pitchshifter are about a million times better than Static X

I almost agree with you completely, except fot the pitchshifter - static x part.

I think they're on the same level of goodness in my book.

Ya' know I'm amazed this thread is still open. I've been watching it for a while and there's no real comparison between SOAD and Static X. I give them both props for what they've earned. First, I'd say Static X, for complex vocal structure and a unique sound. SOAD strikes me as a cross between RATM and Drowning Pool. Then again, I might say SOAD for their wild riffs and hyped up sound. But flat out, I'd say you'd be better off comparing SOAD to (hed) PE and Static X to old school NIN.
