The political agenda is the issues and policies set out by either the executive or cabinet in government which dictate existing and near-future political news and debate. The political agenda while shaped by government can be influence by Grass roots support from party activists at events such as a party conference and can even be shaped by non governmental activist groups which have a political aim. Non-governmental organisations such as Make Poverty History and environmental groups such as Green Peace have been able to shape the political agenda at international conferences. [1] Increasingly the mass media can have an effect in shaping the political agenda through its news coverage of news stories. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver was able to shape the political agenda by running a series of programmes which criticised the quality of school dinners in the United Kingdom. This led to government action by education secretary Ruth Kelly to improve the quality of meals which would not have occurred if it was not for such prominent and vocal criticism. [2] A political party can be described as “shaping the political agenda” or “setting the political agenda” if its promotion of certain issues gains prominent news coverage, for example at election time a political party wants to promote is polices and gain prominent news coverage in order to increase its support. Another definition of political agenda that often goes unrecognized in the individual is one's goals. A political agenda in this sense is one's own goals, whether they are moral, ethical, social or any number of other adjectives. The person who buys a plate for eating and serving food had an agenda when walking into the store; we can guess the person wanted to have a place to eat food for himself or that she planned to host a social gathering, maybe a party. A strinkingly large number of people act without recognizing their own political agendas, which is an entirely questionable group of actions as never in history has their been repeated success from a lack of planning. This lack of recongizing agendas and goals leads to stupidity and sometimes death [3]. By this definition, it seems we all may have an agenda of sorts. And System are involved in socio-political activity, thats obvious, but I stand by my statement. They have no political "agenda", I'd say their agenda is probably more musically based...

Erm, i'm gonna take it out of the dictionary.
"a set of policies or issues to be addressed or pursued by an individual or group; also, a set of underlying motives for political policy" They're addressing political issues, they certianly are a group. Therefore they have a political agenda yes, they may not be trying to create some giant political movement. But they are trying to get something political across. They follow the definition exactly for them, "a set of issues being addressed by a group". You can't say they aren't addressing issues, the lyrics prove the yare. Its a political agenda, |

Okay, people ARE allowed to have differing opinions... I say political, period, no agenda. And their music hasn't always been so heavily laden with such subject matter. So whatever, besides, I wasn't even directing my post at you, it was for the person I quoted.

Politics have been a very common part of music since the Woody Guthrie days... Nothing unorthodox about it.
Though of course, i'm indifferent about all that stuff, i prefer music over the message, a song can be about gardening for all i care... If it has a great melody, rhythm, beat.... Whatever... Then it's good enough for me. |

If you've heard and actually listened to most of their other works they are in fact a propaganda based band. (meaning they write their lyrics about the propaganda America uses)
