Commerford isn't amazing, but he is very underrated.... He's great with the slap too.

The reason being there is a key difference between Rap and practically anything else, and thats the fact that 'anything else' often take the time to sing clearly, therefore not producing 40 words a minute, therefore often not producing a detailed argument in 4 minutes. With Rock or Nu-Metal or whatever, it is far harder to convey a comprehensive message in such a limited time, which means the lyrics, if they're to be any good, will need to be either very cryptic in that the listener not only has to think about them, but the listener will form their own ideas of things. Or alternatively, the lyrics need to be refreshing, and touch on points that are new and aren't heard of on the Cletus bandwagon of cliched bands. Bands like SOAD and Greenday are just having their say on things, and while it is cheesy to those that have heard it all before, and have heard better, it would take some serious talent to create something new and clever that impresses us lyrically and politically. Don't expect to find a great political message from any rock song, just be impressed if you do.

Bump =D
I love this band with all my heart, and reading this thread I'm a bit confused, in other threads people hated Mezmerize/Hypnotize but in this one people love them WTF^^. Anyways my favourite songs are Science, Highway Song, Innervision and Sugar. Something I want to be angry with S.O.A.D about now though-.- The other day I was in a music store and I noticed S.O.A.D and I noticed 1 or 2 new CD's and I was a little bit pissed off to see that they brought out a CD with their songs Metro, Snowblind and Marmelade and a few live tracks also a "rare" video clip of Lonely Day. Now sure if this was a sellout pop artist I really wouldn't give a flyin **** but this is S.O.A.D we're talking about I mean they can do better. Another example: They also made a mix type of CD... What the hell was the point?! It just had all their greatest songs like Spiders, Aerials, Chop Suey etc. I might be ranting but I'm a bit pissed off that they would be reduced to that level EDIT: Sorry I just read the last couple of pages now I see that alot of you hate those albums now |

System of a Down.
Uggh. They were better a few years ago back when Toxicity came out. Theyw ere at their peak then. This new stuff Mesmerize and Hypnotize. . . it has the same System feel to it but. . . The instrumentals are still great. But something about the songs just . . . But the good thing is, they still rock live. I saw them sometime last year and they still know how to do a good show. So anybody going to Ozzfest to see them?

And I personally think they're best album was their self titled System of a Down Toxicity was just them when they reacher a certain peak in their career and were able to appeal to a larger audience

Hypnotize, Mesmerize they suck. Lyrically they've regressed. I know I'm not the only one ti sense this, but haven't you guys noticed that the lyrics to Mesmerize and Hypnotize are rather catchy? I liked their stuff when it didn't have that annoying catchiness to it. I think that's why Mesmerize and Hypnotize aren't as appealing as their earlier stuff. It's like an experiment that blew up in their face or something
