to suggest serj tankians solo work could even be worthy of sniffing the crusty jock of the toxicity album is blasphemous

I have gotten into them again somewhat. I still think Toxicity is their weakest album by a mile.

I too do not agree with this statement. That being said, Toxicity is not nearly as varied as their first album. However, I interestingly enough, find Toxicity to be one of those rare albums that I can listen to all the way through.

I'm not a fan per se but I don't hate these guys either. One of those bands that have always been around but I've never cared enough to like them or hate them, really. Not to say I won't listen to them, I will, but I don't regularly.

yeah man I dug them, kind of wondering where they went. Their vocalist has a really unique voice also. You also have to respect a band that writes that isn't afraid to ruffle some feathers within the "industry". IE the song "Lost in Hollywood" for instance, its one of my favs.

I don't feel like you have truly given his solo work a chance. It is pretty damn top notch.

i can admit ive only listened to a handful of songs and then took a dump on the cd and threw it away when his first cd came out. more of a testament to how awesome i still find the toxicity album tho. 10/10 for me

I just find the majority of songs on Toxicity, taken individually, is not bad. There are a few great moments, "Chop Suey" and "Aerials" are great singles. "Jet Pilot" is still one of my favorite songs by them. But apart from those tracks, I find the rest just tries to hard and the political messages are not that great, "Prison Song" to me is still more embarrassing to me, I will not claim to be a political major, but the content of that song just feels slapped together. It has those quirky moments. But as a whole, I find the album to drag more than anything. "Johnny" is on the Japanese version of the album, and I love that song too.

The first album to me was more fun, and remains that way. All the pieces fit and it all worked together. Beginning to end, I can go back to that one. While with "Toxicity" I find it to take itself too seriously, and it feels like it is trying to be quirky than before. As a follow up, I give it credit for injecting something new into the mix, but as a follow up, I find it not as good.

Maybe worst is unfair, "Steal this Album" was mixed, more of a b-side feel than a follow up. The next 2, had some dreadful moments, and got more stupid. But it had some god songs sprinkled. Maybe not as bad as those, but on the whole, I find I listen to "Toxicity" least of all.
