Touring again!? Very, very cool!

I live in the US, so I won't get to check those particular dates out (fingers crossed for a summer tour in the states!) but they are one of the best live shows I've ever seen in my life.

My first concert was Ozzfest 2002 when I was 14, and Ozzy wasn't at the show I saw (that was when Sharon was diagnosed with cancer) so System of a Down were headlining.

Having never seen a concert at that point, I was completely blown away. Even in retrospect, they put on one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I'm not really a heavy rock metal fan, but I learned to appreciate System of A Down through their album Toxicity. The song "Chopsuey" was totally up a notch. It's so good and progressive that standed out like soar thumb that hurts really bad. It's amazingly good!

If you prefer the first two albums, probably not.

I don't know if I agree with that. I liked Steal This Album, and definitely preferred Toxicity to any of their others. I liked Mezmerize better than their debut album, but I did prefer their debut to Hypnotize.

I think that Steal This Album is probably their most interesting material, to be honest. There are some real clunkers on there, but there's some gold as well.

I honestly think that their first album is miles ahead of anything else they've done.

From there, I don't know. Toxicity is plagued with a terrible opening song(loathe the prison song), and I really don't see why Hypnotize/Mesmerize was released as two albums because they both are padded down with a lot of meh b-sides.

Steal this Album isn't bad, it's just universally considered sort of the one that a lot of people hate because it signifies System of a Down adopting a less "heavy" sound than the first two albums(albeit, Toxicity was already bridging into that direction, but not as much as Steal this Album is a way softer yet way more experimental/eclectic album).

I honestly like all their albums. But, from personal experience, talking with fans, I find that most people don't like the post-Toxicity material that much. Then again, I think that comes from close-mindedness because whether they're as effective or not with their later sound, it's definitely more sophisticated.

the more i listen to it, the more i agree with this. i guess i was always kinda turned off by the more chaotic tendency of their debut, but after numerous listens its really grown on me

i guess you could argue the songs in hyp/mez introduce some more interesting harmony and time sigs, etc. but overall, the newer material just doens't seem as genuine and is just a little too 'polished' for my tastes, though i still enjoy them. plus, if i'm going to listen to something sophisticated, its not gunna be soad

i'm still check out steal this album out of curiosity

I don't know, I always felt "Holy Mountain" was a vastly underrated song.

i'm a fan of the next song on that album, vicinity of obscenity. also, i've noticed a lot of fans seem to dislike lonely day, which i disagree with. honestly, there isn't a single system of a down song i don't like. its just the style of their earlier work appeals to me alittle more
