I consider myself a prog fan, but am not fond of either band as a prog act. I voted Muse but I should clarify that I like Muse as a pop act more than a prog act. Its the catchy jingles that get me, not the actual musicianship.

Radiohead were good in the 90s when they played straight forward simplistic yet meaningful rock songs. However, I just can't relate to their prog work as well as it seems bogged down by conceptualism with less effort to emote something with substance.

That's a criticism thats aimed at prog in general.

I'd disagree. I find that there are a lot of bands that are prog (and prog related) who are extremely genuine. With Radiohead it just seems like they're being weird just for attention. Though maybe its because I grew up listening to their older material and just can't get over the jarring difference. Biasses can be weird like that.

I don't think Radiohead are THAT weird. Its all perfectly accessible if you ask me, there's been no point where they've really departed from catchy songs.

Yeah. Good thing I heard their weird/prog stuff before listening to Pablo Honey or The Bends.

Um. Title song from Kid A, Treefingers, Hunting Bears, Fitter Happier, Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors, MK 1 & 2.

And being catchy dosen't mean its not weird.

King Crimson have some really damn catchy songs. Lol, so do Mr. Bungle.

I wouldn't say its all that weird, its a gorgeous song, almost a lullaby actually.
I think if you put it into the context of the electro music they were compared to with that music (Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada) it comes off as far less weird. Just depends on the context i suppose.

Note to Boo Boo: Stop editing your posts!
Fitter Happier is just an interlude, and i've said time and time before that Push/Pulk Revolving Doors has a groove like no other.
I might give you the benefit of the doubt with Morning Bell

But the thing is, I absolutely LOVE Caravan! Insanely good band. Winter Wine is one of the best songs of all time. Oh God, it's so good I gotta link to it:
