interesting...

i went through a 'metal' phase a few years ago and quickly came out of it.. then slowly i started listening to a different kind of heaviness. these bands im into now i consider to be more than 'metal'. i certainly wouldnt have liked them the first time round.

LOL to Bumsnogger, I think that just outclassed prog in the weird name department.

Ever heard Black Cobra SD? They're pretty good and heavy. Kind of like a thrashy High on Fire, and the vocals are a little more ragged.

Nice list too, I like quite a few of those bands.

who would you recommend?

no black metal though.. i like emperor but cant listen to much else in that genre.
