Woah, you actually defended me.

Prog is not a genre per se, but a method of delivery. If it isn't progressive (ie. new, unique) then it isn't prog. Unfortunately music has become so formulated that the natural progression of music as a whole needs to be placed into a new genre.

Please explain how that makes Dream Theater prog then. They sound like a run out of the mill prog-metal band to me which going by that logic defeats the purpose of being progressive.
