Ok, then i rephrase my question... We were arguing about Nirvana, how was me being a prog fan relevant to that?

So??... What excuse is that?... What possible involvement is there between progressive rock music and a hardcore punk influenced grunge band?... Seriously.
But i remember it clearly... You were criticizing me for being a elitist proghead who discriminates against less technical forms of music, which of course if that were true, it would contradict the whole me defending Nirvana thing... Wouldn't it? |

-Aerosmith. -Motley Crue. -Bon Jovi. -Metallica. -Megadeth. -Poison. -Twisted Sister. -Judas Priest. -Black Sabbath. -AC/DC...although they may be an exception because I prefer the Bon Scott years much more.Back In Black though, is a great album and without it being as good as it was, I don't even think AC/DC would be even half as celebrated as they are in music today. -Kiss. -Iggy Pop. -Alice Cooper. -Queensryche...I'm really missing their earlier sounds now after hearing Operation Mindcrime II!!!It's simply a terrible letdown when compared to the original, great Operation Mindcrime, period!!! -Neil Young. -Ted Nugent. -Ratt. All the bands I mentioned above are also included in my huge album collection and that is only further proof to the greatness of the 80's and the bands it brought up.The attitude of rock also became more powerful and believable no matter what the lyrics were saying in the 80's.I mean, just their command of the instruments and talent while playing them had the power to make any fan believe in what they were saying. It was truly a boost of energy and confidence in life.In conclusion I'd have to say that not only the concert show, but life in general also became much more extravagant in the 80's.The 90's were great and incredibly influential to musicians including me, but I still believe that the 80's made the most impact...or atleast started it...for the hardrock scene. There are great bands from any decade though, period. |

For me it's the 70s?... Why?... Because rock music had become pretty diverse but at the same time new creative forms of music were being born... The 70s had a lot, classic rock and prog was barely just a scratch of the service when it came to all the great music that was being made... R&B, Funk, Punk rock, you name it... So when someone is gonna say that i'm closed minded for voting for the 70s because i'm some classic rock elitist, they can go to hell.... They're just being a bunch of assh*les who think that if they like the same bands as their parents that makes them "uncool".
This is just preference of course, because i don't believe there to be a factual answer to this question. |

There is no such thing as a genre whose majority of fans are NOT jackasses.
I can give reasons to nitpick about fans of any genre in existance... Including prog, just because i'm a prog fan dosen't mean i wont take shots at the more elitist fans. |
