ya what is this 80's non sense. i am not in any way gonna make some bogus claim to say they didn't have any good artist... but to even pretend that had the most, best, or largest effect is a joke. people commonly try to forget the 80's existed like a bad date.

edit - i just realized this was in the rock section... so are you referring to just rock or music in general for these decades?

I chose 70's. I was not born then, but from what I listened so far some of my favourite songs were created in that era ..

I think it's safe to say that the significant majority of posters here are under 30, and all but a small handful are under 40. People generally tend to favor the music that was produced and released while they were growing up. That's primarily what was pushed at them on the radio and in record stores, and of course on the internet for the last couple decades.

So it's not surprising that the 60's and 70's aren't doing that well. Which is meaningless, since everything is subjective and there is no "best" decade. Just because the 60's/70's get fewer votes here, doesn't mean the music was somehow "worse".

The 80's aren't my favorite, but I have to admit it was a decade of great change in music. Several completely new genres came on the scene in the 80s, and some genres that were born earlier evolved in the 80's.

Not the best, IMHO, but an interesting decade nonetheless.

I voted for the 60`s. The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Doors, The Animals, Them, much more. No other decade really comes close IMO.

The results of this poll are absurd.

Todays music is garbage comparatively speaking. And the 80's my god the 80's.

There's lots of great music in the 80s.

Let's see there's new wave & post punk , the first real wave of indie labels , the birth of hip/hop , metal really took off properly in the 80s as did electronic music.

The only reason I can think of for the 80s sucking was because the charts were full of novelty crap , cheesy rock ballads & has beens from the 60s & 70s desperate to re-live past glories & failing miserably.

Do you really have to bring the whole "It's only an opinion" thing into every thread?
