I think that my hatred for the eighties stems from not having it introduced to me..until after it was no longer present. I may have liked it if I could relate it to things in my past...

I was alive for 9 years of the 80's and I can't remember hearing any of those classic 80's songs during that time. It was all Kylie, Jason Donavon and Bananarama as far as I remember. As far as I'm concerned, 80's music only appeared sometime in the mid/late 90's, when we got VH1. EDIT: ****! I just realised that pre-1960's decades could include a whole heap of classical. There was some pretty sexy stuff coming out of France sometime around 1900 I think. |

^^ Yeah for sure. I always tell people "I was 8 when they ended" and speaking with a lot of fans of the eighties they always have some high school memory tied to some big hair band song...

Maybe if I'd been more well verse in music during the 80's I would understand why anybody was ever a big fan of Def Leppard. They were on tv the other day with the song "animal" which was apparently the biggest song off their biggest album and they were the biggest band around
... and the song was **** and they were ugly and dressed worse than almost anybody I've ever seen. What the hell was going on? EDIT: I blame Thatcher. They probably all worked in some factory in Sheffield that she closed down and formed a band as some kind of punishment to the British people for ever voting tory. |

I should call my dad and ask..he loves the Def Leopard and thought taking my little brother and a friend to one of their concerts for his 16th birthday was a wonderful gift...it was a surprise concert...
But poor some sugar on me is a classic..how could you not wanna take shots and act like an idiot when that song busts out! LOL!

Ok, that one, but only that one!
That song is actually about an industrial accident at the Tate & Lyle factory in Doncaster. It was originally "Pour some treacle on me". Bit of trivia for you. |
