Rock that has an experimental quality that can still kick ass is perfect stuff like The Mars Volta and The Fall of Troy. Also any rock that can paint a picture or give off a certain feeling based off of the lyrics and the way the instruments are played gets my instant respect, for example Nine Inch Nails does it perfectly

Anything that shows passion, extreme breakdowns and lyrics that don't sound like a 2 year old has written them. Ie Brokencyde.

Voted for Classic, but Blues and Progressive are my favorites, though I do like a number of alternative bands, and some jazz that falls outside rock, I guess.
Led Zep - Students and IMHO one of the best modern performers of the blues. Genesis - One of the seminal artists in prog Procol Harum is one of the few I have found that was able to successfully combine the two. |
why isnt hardcore on the list ?
because you touch yourself at night
I didn't think hardcore was a genre in and of itself, but a prefix to the name of a genre, like "hardcore metal", "hardcore rap", etc, etc.... or maybe I am just stupid or my brain is softcore...
*ahem* don't you mean "classiccore"...
Punk and emo :D....the real ones have some sort of a catchyness and are pretty soulful :D
