is metal evil?
why do people think metal and all of rock for that matter is evil, groups use that image of evil to sell records there not actully satanist.
|
You just answered your own question.
If groups give that image, what are people supposed to think. |
what i mean is people know that and why do they still think it
|
Because they don't want to accept the bands true ideas. They just want someone to blame society's problems on. Metal and rap are blamed for the crimes. Although, in reality, it was someone that wanted attention, was crazy, or is at the end of their rope. And sometimes it is started by a corrupted official in office that's to blame.
|
Do they really know that though? You'd have to be a fairly big fan to realise that the band themselves are just ordinary people. Everyone else who hears the music can only judge the people in the band by the music.
A band puts out an album, it has blood and psychotic looking demons on the front, what do expect average joe to think of this band? Remembering that imagery speaks far louder then words (or in this case, lyrics). |
Now you see why groups like ICP and Kiss had trouble.
|
ICP totally.
Kiss weren't too bad, they made fairly mainstream music. When people couldn't see the band they weren't scared away by the music, radio-play for example. And when they got used to the music, they didn't mind seeing the band. Many would call ICP sick, long before hearing a song of theirs. The band members themselves don't have to be evil to make the band grossly so. |

People who think metal is evil, are evil.
|
Personally, I say that EVERY song has evil in it (even christian music). Without evil, there is no drama, no emotion. Of course, people believing that metal is evil to the point of avoiding it completely is downright pointless. Unless you have some sort of phobia of music, you listen to your favorite band, who more than likely has evil as an influence. Evil isn't the opposite form of music that is deemed okay, because there is no such barrier. Both 'good' and 'bad' are used in songwriting. Simply put, evil in a song, band, or music IS NOT a bad thing. That is my view.

are you stupid?

i think that its basically down to people just not understanding the music or the band behind the music, for instance if they see a band wearing all black and like death metal clothes and their music is screaming with uber double bass and stuff thats the first thing that they will say, because they dont understand what the band and their music is about and what they are trying to convey.
|
Yeah I kind of agree with you all, combined.
Every band has a certain level of evilness, but as the image of metal (or rap for that mather) is so evil, they tend to express it more to live up to the image. And people might be overreacting in their judgement towards ''what is evil''. It's just an image, and images are hard to shred. |
not as evil as this thread for robbing me of five minutes of my life.
|
Most metal songs I listen to, contain the essence of evil.

I think the only people who really think rock bands are evil are ignorant fools who only listen to pop radio stations. This thread is dumb and I will never have these 2 minutes back.
|
then why did you reply, i wanted to get peoples reaction on this, think back to the 80's, when they started to put the advisory stickers on the albums, it was partly because people thought metal was devil music
|
No one but the ignorant think of metal and rock as devil music.
They only get PA stickers because the music was just deemed offensive. Parental advisory stickers go on albums that use 'offensive' language. If Britney swore, or wrote a violent song she'd get a sticker too. Theres no real bias towards metal. |

Metal isn`t evil , It`s just something to pass the time until you get proper taste in music.
|
metallica and system of a down are ok, but ic ouldnt listen to them all day.....bat country
|
Some do it for image, some actually believe what they preach, like King Diamond, who is an actual satanist.
I also know a couple of satanists. |
Most metal bands do it for the image and most people don't take all the satanist stuff seriously. I didn't know king Diamond was an actual satanist though.
^ Do the satanists you know listen to a lot of metal, and do they not freak you out a bit? |
mm..norwegian black metla should jsut be brought up.. just my two cents but w/e
