I am big fan of Beck and Nirvana, but I think the best lyrics ever come from Tool from Sober. Here is a little bit:
I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile. I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well. |

Neil Peart
I'm a huge fan of Rush, and obviously love Neil Peart for his percussion skills - however, he is also an amazing writer - (his book on his experiences after his wife and daughter died is amazing) - but some of his lyrics are profound and metaphorical - my personal favorite is 'The Trees'
'There is unrest in the forest, there is trouble in the trees, for the Maples want more sunlight, and the Oaks ignore their pleas' While perhaps not the best example of his lyrics, the whole song is very cleverly crafted, telling the story of oppression, almost commenting on big business and it's power to overshadow little business... Just my thoughts! SimeyC http://dailyband.blogspot.com http://www.MusicChatterBox.com |

To the extent that I wear skirts
And cheap nylon slips I’ve gone native I wanted to know the exact dimension of hell Does this sound simple? F**k you! are you for sale? Does ’f**k you’ sound simple enough? This was the only part that turned me on But he was candy all over Come on down to the store You can buy some more, and more, and more, and more You can buy some more, and more, and more, and more You can buy some more, and more, and more, and more You can buy some more, and more, and more, and more I grew up in a shotgun row Sliding down the hill Out front were the big machines Steel and rusty now I guess Outback was the river And that big sign down the road That’s where it all started Come on down to the store You can buy some more, and more, and more, and more Come on down to the store You can buy some more, and more, and more, and more Come on down to the store You can buy some more, and more, and more, and more You can buy some more, more, more, more Sonic Youth- The Sprawl

I'm not sure who did this song I think it's Tom Paxton and I know Pete Seeger released a version.
What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine ? What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine? I learned that Washington never told a lie, I learned that soldiers seldom die, I learned that everybody`s free, and that`s what the teacher said to me. That`s what I learned in school today, that`s what I learned in school. What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine ? What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine? I learned that policemen are my friends, I learned that justice never ends, I learned that murderers die for their crimes, even if we let them escape sometimes. That`s what I learned in school today, that`s what I learned in school. What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine ? What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine? I learned that government must be strong, it`s always right and never wrong, our leaders are the finest men, and we elect them again and again and again and again. That`s what I learned in school today, that`s what I learned in school. What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine ? What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine? I learned that war is not so bad, I learned about the great ones we have had, we fought in Germany and in France, and some day I will get my chance.

I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that. |

Code Blue - TSOL
I never got along with the girls at my school Filling me up with all their morals and their rules They'd pile all their problems on my head I'd rather go out and f*ck the dead 'Cause I can do what I want and they won't complain I wanna f*ck I wanna f*ck the dead Middle of the night so silently I creep on over to the mortuary Lift up the casket and fiddle with the dead Their cold blue flesh makes me turn red 'Cause I can do what I want and they won't complain I wanna f*ck I wanna f*ck the dead And I don't even care how she died... But I like it better if she smells of formaldehyde! Never on the rag or say leave me alone They don't scream and they don't moan Don't even cry if I shoot in their hair Lying on the table she smiles and she stares Chorus |

Suicidal Tendencies - I Saw Your Mommy
Yesterday, as I went out of the house I saw a body lying down quiet as a mouse Lying face down in the sewer I got up closer and realized that I knew her All her organs coming from her inside Slashed up skin sliced up hide Turned her over and saw the tire tracks on her head That's when I realized she was dead I saw your mommy and your mommy's dead I saw your mommy and your mommy's dead Twisted body chopped off feet Her body was minced meat Bugs crawling on her arms She's dead, can't do no harm Gnarled up legs, broken and bent Her last breath has been spent I saw your mommy and your mommy's dead I watched her as she bled Chewed off toes on her chopped off feet I took a picture cause I thought it was neat But the thing I like seeing the best Was the rodents using her hair as a nest I saw your mommy and your mommy's dead I saw your mommy and your mommy's dead I saw your mommy nnd your mommy's dead I saw her lying in a pool of red I think it's the greatest thing I'll ever see Your dead mommy lying in front of me I'll always remember her lying dead on the floor I hope she dies twenty times more I saw your mommy and your mommy is dead I saw your mommy and your mommy is dead |
