Atheist
Nile
Necrophagist
Quo Vadis
Akerc0cke

Extol

Melodic Death:
Arch Enemy

Dark Tranquillity
Scar Symmetry
Amon Amarth

Straight Death/Thrash:
Bloodbath
Obituary
Gorod
Megadeth
Pantera
Overkill
Metallica
Mekong Delta
Coroner
Dark Angel
Testament
Exhorder
Voivod
Slayer

Doom/Goth/Folk:
Candlemass
Cathedral
Katatonia
Imperia
Ensiferum
Wintersun
Black Sabbath

Heavy/Prog/Power:
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Bruce D1ckinson
Queensryche
Planet X
Dream Theater
Pain of Salvation
Mastodon
Tool
... and other bands which could be considered prog rock as well...
Iced Earth
Blind Guardian
Dragonforce
Kalmah - wtf genre is this?
