I dislike a huge margin of metal... Because a lot of it just seems like the most unappealing form of music imaginable... However exceptions are.
Black Sabbath Iron Maiden Van Halen Metallica Slayer Pantera Guns N Roses Tool Rage Against The Machine Ozzy Osbourne (Blizard Of Oz at least) Celtic Frost Dimmu Borgir Mastodon Nine Inch Nails Danzig Mr Bungle Opeth Symphony X Fates Warning Judas Priest (Defenders Of The Faith only) Alice In Chains Between The Burried And Me Kings X Helmet Sunn O))) Lighting Bolt Kyuss Queens Of The Stone Age Yngwie Malmsteen (Well, Rising Force) Steve Vai (Passion And Warfare, that's all) Nightwish System Of A Down And if proto metal counts. Led Zeppelin King Crimson Blue Oyster Cult AC/DC Queen Jethro Tull Funkadelic (you heard me right) Uriah Heep Thin Lizzy Blue Cheer Vanilla Fudge Aerosmith Captain Beyond Rush Alice Cooper New York Dolls |

I have a hard time defining metal...I watched a VH1 show listing the 20 best metal bands and didn't agree that some of the 20 bands were metal. I like a lot of metal bands (Megadeth, Pantera, Testament, Slayer, etc.) and a lot of rock bands as well. I consider bands like Def Leppard, Van Halen and G N' R (old band) to be rock, not really metal. However, my favorite band is Aerosmith even though I listen to a lot of heavy stuff. I guess good music is just good music, and doesn't really need to be labeled...lol.
