What makes you think another band wouldn't have influenced them OTHER than Sabbath? From what I've read Metallica's BIGGEST influences were Motorhead and the Misfits. My vote still goes with Alice In Chains, though. |

before anyone jumps down my throat, matter of opinion here, but for me led zeppelin are the greatest due to the fact they all played their instruments better than anyone else, were louder than anyone else and had more about them than anyone else (ie aura/charisma) which allured people. so yeah...led zeppelin.

my favorites of all time: the doors, ramones, pixies, david bowie, johnny cash, the clash, sex pistols, the cure, nirvana
best from >90s: when considering talent, live performances, lyrics, creativity, i'd probably say tool and/or nine inch nails. for punk, i think rancid will continue to have an impact on new bands, more so than green day or nofx.
