Genre is opinion to a certain extent, but not that much. Certainly not to the point that Zeppelin are a heavy Metal band all the sudden.

Well i`ve just given you the results of a nationwide vote by metal fans at the time, does that count?

When was this poll taken? Out of curiousity.
Even if Zeppelin was considered Metal then, it doesn't change the fact that Classic Rock and Metal are totally differnt, and that EIMP was dead wrong...again.

There are bands that are clearly rock. There are bands that are clearly metal. There are bands that are both at different times, that blur the line. It's forums like these that people discuss things like that.

whats the first link you see for a site on that page? read what it says..

Led Zeppelin Bio
Bio on Led Zeppelin ... Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, John Bonham. Led Zeppelin was rock's first real Heavy Metal band ... Back to Rock Bio Page. Check Out or Purchase LED ZEP'S Music ...

anyways doesn't matter what any of those sites say, any idiot that grew up back then new them as either crap, or a metal band.. You maybe don't see them as a metal band caus some of there stuff seems a little conutry, bluesy, foke... just cause they like to go all over the place.. but they were in fact back then considered to be a heavy metal band. I watch VH1 a fair bit and many shows just about them. Plus I've read a lot about this band, all of which pointing them out to be the first heavy metal band.
