Goddamn those stokes.

^Its true, they ruin everything good.

I dont see how you can dislike it so much. Imo every song on both disks is very good. It different from anything else they have had, but not in a bad way. Very good guitar playing throughout it, good baselines still, and what i think is solid vocals. Not to mention lyrics to most of the songs really mean alot, or are dedicated to someone.

Anthony Keidis is incapable of solid vocals.
Thats why they should scrap the pop sound.
Besides,
Stadium Arcadium was all the SAME song.
Seriously...
Sorry,
I'm a hater.

Compare Especially in Michigan or Dani California to songs like Oh Snow and storm in a teacup. If you think they sound AT ALL the same, then your obviously listening to the wrong song. Im not saying you have to think its good, but sound the same...haha thats just dumb

Okay. I am going out on a limb here. My best friend's favourite band is RHCP. He has seen them about a dozen times. his favourite album? STADIUM ARCADIUM. Me? I have seen them twice. Back in the days of Mothers Milk. My fave album? Stadium Arcadium. There are no better songs on this than the Chili's top ten, but it is their most consistent album. Their history is brilliantly checkered with drugs, sex ,death and disillusionment. I think they deserve a stable sound after what they have been through. RHCP sold out? I truly believe that they have not even entertained the notion of selling out. There are so many better tracks on previous albums, but they are not complete, and yes I include BSSM in this. Backwoods, Magic Johnson etc are infinitely beeter than anything on the new album, but that's the dilemma. SA is more cohesive and solid.

FINALLY, a response about not liking the Chili peppers that is actually intelligent. Most others seem to just be AK is an ahole, or they sound the exact same.

+1 for jackhammer

The amazing guitar work is the only thing that makes SA worth listening to, IMO. There's just too many boring mid-tempo tracks. Must give them credit though, I was a bit wary about them going back to their "funkier" sound on some tracks - thought it might've come off as really forced, but they pulled it off well. "Storm In A Teacup" almost sounds like it would've fit on BSSM, but it doesn't sound like they were trying to write a song that would've fit on BSSM. And throughout the entire album, you can just sense that they're a band with a lot of heart and the only reason they're making music together is because they love making music together - which sadly seems to be a rare thing in modern mainstream rock.

My personal favourite album of theirs would have to be By The Way.

I guess because my first album by them-and the only one i actually own-is BSSM I hold them to that standard.

I have the tendency to base every CD by any artist off my first album by them-rather than on a individual cd-to-cd basis. In rhcp case, its just a step in the wrong direction.

Wayfarer 11-12-2007 12:07 AM

Do you really want to hear BSSM 2 though? I've never really understood that. If I want to hear BSSM, I'll listen to BSSM. No point in the band doing the same shit over again.
