You should at least give War and Joshua Tree a chance, you would be surprised, you might actualy like those albums.
Tis a good point boo boo. And Joshua Tree as far as I go with U2 is a very good album. I do not like their latest album. There's no spark to it. Vertigo was the one shimmering track, to me, and even that was slaughtered by being a single.

I think that it's the same with a lot of bands that a certain album deciphers how large a portion of people judge a band.

Metallica's true fan base probably didn't sway that much when St Anger came out. But the amount of people who came out of nowhere who were dead keen to jump to the Bash Metallica scene for that one album was insane. Critics mashed the album, 12 year old kids instantly had some weird idea that Metallica had been sh*t their whole career. But it is poor justification for the judgements people made about the band.

Same with Greenday. 70% (going with that 42% of all statistics being false thing ) of all Greenday haters haven't heard Dookie or the other albums. To be honest I'm one of those 70%. But I know I like the singles from their earlier albums when they get radioplay over here, and as much as possible, I try not to judge their better, earlier stuff based upon how bad I think American Idiot is.

All their first 6 or 7 albums all sound the same.

Their last album is probably the worst of their career but it`s been played to death everywhere.

He sure does like those cheques from big companies to use his music in advertisments. So much for being a rebel there then.

Brian Eno could have been working with good artists in the time he wasted producing U2`s crap.

There , thats 5 reasons I hate them

Wow, rock stars are ****s, what a shocking revalation.

What the hell does that have to do with the music again?...You hate a band because a member is a prick?...How many bands would that leave?....Hell, you probably also hate James Brown because hes a wife beating, drug pushing nutjob i take it.

And when does Bono ever say hes being a rebel?...Its not like hes pulling a Bruce Springsteen and going on about the evils of big corperates despite his record label....Bono has never lashed out against big corperations, so i dont see the hypocripsy...Of course hes ****y and full of himself, NEWS FLASH, hes a f*cking rock star.

Their first 5 albums sound the same?...To you maybe, i dont really hear it, Boy and Joshua Tree are a lot different from albums like War and The Unforgetable fire, at least to me, and either way, i dont see U2 as being anywhere near as one noted as The Rolling Stones or AC/DC.

I've heard it all from War to How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb and am sorry to say none of it did a single thing for me.

I`ve heard practically everything U2 have done since Boy.

In fact it`s difficult not to , no matter how hard I try

No matter how much I try to avoid listening to U2 , I still end up hearing them more than bands I do like due to radio , adverts , tv trailers & that idiotic lead singer on whatever crusade he`s championing at the time.
