Alice in Chains...
 

I love this grunge band. I got into them quite recently when I bought Facelift and I have some of their other songs on my PC, 'Down in a Hole', 'Grind' and 'Don't Follow'.

'Man in the Box' and 'Down in a Hole' are my favourite songs by them. 'Angry Chair' is pretty good as well.

Who else likes them?

I bought their box set. Its not bad. I never realized how similar alot of it was, but the hits seem to have a soul of their own. Man in the Box, is diffrent from Would?, which is diffrent from down in a hole, which is diffrent from No Excuses.

The songs that weren't hits...well there we see the templete for staind.

that would probably be my favorite.

I like; them bones, again, grind, man in the box, dam that river, love hate love, we die young, junkhead, nutshell, god smack and angry chair. all of them are great tracks

'Down in a Hole' is a real classic.

Alice in Chains deserve more credit for what they did. Nirvana just lapped it all up. :(

One band i`ve never really understood the appeal of.

I`ve never really understood why they`re a grunge band either , they just sounded like your average metal band to me at the time.

every song bugs the shit out of me. I don't see the fascination in AIC. Why do people think they're so great?

Last time i checked, the media gives them little credit, if they got the credit they deserved, people would stop yapping about them on the music forums.

the media sucks. im talking about the fan base. every time there's a thread about em in the mosh pit group on myspace, people go insane talking about how much they love them. i just dont get it.

I think they're good. To me, the only way to describe them is Nirvana's big brother. Rooster and Would are fantastic examples of a grungy Kurt Cobain style while Man in the Box and Them Bones are songs I'd liken to Teen Spirit.
Their instrumentation is fantastic and although not that technically brilliant, I'd say they head down keith moons descriptive path of being fantastic at putting emotion into the music. Sure some it sounds bland at times, I don't particularly like Heaven Beside You but every band has it's average songs. The hits are numerous so it's no wonder so many people like them. Seattle owned the grunge scene and it's no suprise to see AIC come out of Seattle and make it big. Jerry Cantrell and Layne Stanley imo are fantastic song writers as well, I probably like them more than Nirvana to be honest. Though I'd have to say I like Soundgarden more than eather of the two.

i haven't heard much from them, but would is such an awsome song i have to like them, i've sorta listened to their best of and i liked it, but i never went further, something i hope to correct when i get my dsl.....i love their sound, plus it takes me back to my childhood, especially would, that's one of the first songs i remember liking on my own, i was about 10 or 11.....

Perhaps its because of their taste in music?, we all have different tastes. Some people like Bon Jovi, that dosent mean i should start a thread and complain about it.

Good harmonies, second only to Simon and garfunkle. Solid guitar work, well constructed songs, decent nough lyrics, personal and deep, but good. Good scream too. Amazing acoustic.

Iron Maiden are one of the most important bands in metal, they are extreamly talented and they simply kick ass.

The acoustic is my favourite part about Heaven Beside You, tis really good.

they ARE hair metal, but you can call them what ever you want, it doesn't change the fact that they're a bunch of geezers with wobling voices that sing about dungeons and dragons....

1.Iron Maiden are about as hair metal as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, playing metal music and having long hair DOES NOT MAKE YOU HAIR METAL...hair metal was a crappy corperate rock movement from the 80s, and maiden had no part in it.
2.Di<kenson is one of the most talented vocalists in the business, and if you deny that, it only shows how much you know about vocals.
3.What in the hell are you talking about?, did you even read their lyric sheets?, there lyrics are not even remotely like that, the Number Of The Beast album has no such lyrics.
